This is a new site dedicated to filling the advanced knife maker’s needs for equipment and working materials from sandpaper to steels, brass, and handle materials of exotic woods, bone, semi-precious stone slabs, mother-of-pearl, ect. I need first to request a favor though. I don’t have money to throw away, do you? Do suppliers force you to order far larger quantities of a specific item than you either want or need? You need a few sheets of specific size grit, and they only offer packs of 10, 20, or even 50 sheets? You need a 12 inch slab of steel, but they only sell 18 or 36 inch lengths? A supplier wants 15 bucks for a couple of pieces of some ¼ inch thick exotic wood? The price seems high, but you don’t know where else to go and you don’t want to spend the whole day searching site after site, right? From my experience it goes on from there to one retailer after another. I’m a simple hobbyist, not a full time producer, so I have no desire to buy in bulk when I just want to build an 8 inch knife to occupy some of my nightly spare time. Now that my web site is my full time business, I want to help fellow knife makers out. I will buy in bulk and sell in smaller quantities than other supplies. Buy 6 inches of your favorite steel, one screw, a single small piece of wood, or a single pair of brass pins. Here is what I need from you. Tell me the products and materials that you use daily or on a regular basis. WHICH HAND TOOLS ARE ABSOLUTE NECESSITIES? Provide information on quality makers and brands. Also list items you prefer buying in small quantities. What are your favorite woods or materials for various knife handles, guards, and butt caps? Let me know of anything and everything you would like to see us carry? In order to best serve you, I need your help. Sincerely Yours, Jim Rayfield SEND EMAIL INPUT For The Knife Maker
